The Eye Of Hurricane Katrina


Hurricane Katrina began forming on the 23rd August 2005. It cause tremendous damage and it caused $81.2 billion of damage and destruction in its path. It was a catogory 5 hurricane and affected many states within America including, the Bahamas, South Florida, Cuba, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and especially Greater New Orleans. It caused a total of 1,836 deaths and there were 705 missing people afterwards. The strengh of this hurricane meant that there were levee breaches in New Orleans and it meant that 80% of the city was underwater. It meant a major loss of homes for people in New Orleans and for those who didn't completely lose their homes
it meant that a lot of money must be spent to
repair the terrible destruction that destroyed
their homes.
